Are you just as busy and stressed as ever? Is your email inbox adding to this workload and stress? Well, please, before you delete this email newsletter, for your health’s sake please continue reading.
You are definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed in our fast-paced society today. I had thought that technology and computers were going to be the answer to easing our workload and simplifying life. Instead, the amount of uns0licited junk email in my inbox, as well as even legitim^te email, makes me believe that this mode of technology has back-fired.
Well, thankfully, I am happy to report that I have proof that this is a poor assumption on my part, and not the best attitude to have. Did you know that by you reading this healthy email newsletter (The Step-Power Weigh), that you are actually improving your health, and therefore reducing your stress? It’s true. It has been reported in the American Journal of Health Promotion 2004 Jul;19(6):422-429 that over a 12-week period, a group of over 2,000 participants who received two health-related emails each week, improved their exercise and diet habits compared to the control group receiving no email health messages, and making no health improvements. People in the email group reported cooking with less fat, and overall consuming less high-fat foods, plus they significantly increased their physical activity and their intake of important vitamins and minerals. And as you may or may not know, eating healthy and exercising will significantly help you take better control of the “S” word --- “stress.”
Speaking of the “S” word, how are you dealing with stress? Limiting stress in your life is just as important to good health as eating right and exercising. Stress management does not replace exercising, healthy eating, or taking medication, but instead works in conjunction with them to improve overall wellness. To help you manage your stress even further, I would like to offer you one of HealthSteps Rx health lessons on Stress Management, usually only offered to members of one of HealthSteps Rx wellness programs who receive a weekly email health message from me. To get your complimentary lesson, email “the message of good health” to at least two of your friends or family members, and ask them to sign-up for The Step-Power Weigh. When they sign-up and credit you, I will send you and them this very helpful lesson on Stress Management. Be sure to let them know that routine healthy email messages really can improve their health and decrease their stress.
In the mean time, you may also obtain two other complementary sample lessons from HealthSteps Rx wellness programs right now, and then take a look at the other lessons available to all members. Plus, I want to share with you the Top Ten Things Not To Do, so that you might find more time in your day to work on your wellness. (I just added 20 minutes to my day by incorporating number 3, in addition to the others. Not only has it saved me time, but I am also getting positive feedback on my new “do.” Plus, I almost but not quite, beat my husband out of the bathroom when getting dressed every morning.) Ch3ck it out and see if it will work for you!
ANOTHER GIFT to you and your friends/family: The meal plan in the “August 2005” Step-Power Weigh will not be removed like it usually is this month, and will be available in the archives. So here is just one more reason to encourage others to sign-up, and for you to help others to get healthy.

P.S. Client Bragging Time: Like many of you, my client Teresa Rush, came to me for help in improving her health and wellness. Teresa had her metabolic analysis and body composition completed, as well as a nutrition consultation. Like most of us, Teresa is a very busy woman, and has to work hard everyday to work on her health and wellness. Well, I am so proud to say that Teresa is not only working on her own health and wellness, but she is also using her new healthy habit of walking to help find a cure for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Teresa does not have diabetes, but feels that this is a very worthwhile cause, and I couldn’t agree more!
I would like to congratulate Teresa for taking the steps to improve her health, and also helping others at the same time. If you are so moved, you may also consider walking for the JDRF and help improve your health and the health of others, or you might even consider supporting Teresa in her efforts by going to make a donation in Teresa’s name to:

Congratulations Teresa!
